Switching from TidyCal to Holder

TidyCal is one of the easier moves: it keeps a real contacts list and exports it in one click. The one thing to check before you start is your plan, because the export button doesn't exist on the free tier.

What comes with you

  • Clients: yes. Everyone who has ever booked with you, from the contacts list.
  • Consent status: no. TidyCal holds no marketing consent field. Everyone arrives with none recorded.
  • History: not in the standard import. Bookings export separately. Moving them into Holder as a real record is a one-off we do for you.

Export from TidyCal

  • Check your plan first. CSV export needs Individual, Pro or Agency — it is not on the free plan. If you are on free, you'll need a month on a paid plan to get your own list out, which is worth knowing before you cancel anything
  • Go to Contacts and click the CSV export option. This is your client list
  • Go to Bookings and click the CSV export option. This is your history, including client details, booking times, and the answers to your booking questions

Take both files even if you only think you want the contacts. The bookings export is the only place your intake answers live, and you cannot go back for it once the account is closed.

Import to Holder

  • Upload the contacts CSV as it downloaded. Date and phone formats are normalised on import
  • Read the column mapping check before anything is written
  • Duplicates are flagged side by side with a merge view. Where two records disagree about opting out, the more restrictive one wins
  • Combining this with a list from somewhere else: the merge preview matches on email address and shows you the difference field by field first

What Holder rebuilds rather than imports

  • Booking pages, session types, availability, packs
  • Under an hour, by hand. Your TidyCal booking types become session types, and your availability windows become availability

What doesn't come with you

  • Marketing consent. A booking list is not a mailing list. Decide who you have permission to email and set it deliberately
  • Booking types, availability and follow-up emails. No export exists for these. Note down your follow-up timings before you close the account
  • Payments. If you took payment through TidyCal's Stripe or PayPal connection, that history stays with Stripe or PayPal, where your accountant will look anyway
  • Ratings and reviews. Anything left on your TidyCal profile stays there. Copy across anything you want to use as a testimonial while you still can
  • Zoom. No integration transfers. In Holder you paste your own link on a session, one session at a time

The last step

  • Repoint the booking link: website, bio, email signature, anywhere it appears
  • Take a test booking as a client and check the confirmation lands
  • Keep TidyCal live until the last booking made in it has happened, then close it

Deep history imports are a paid one-off service, not part of a trial or a plan. If you want one, send us your export before you start a trial: we'll quote you for it, and tell you honestly what will and won't come with you either way.
