Switching from Practice Better to Holder

Practice Better gives you a short client list in a couple of clicks, but full client records only export one person at a time, and there's no marketing consent field anywhere to carry across.

What comes with you

• Clients: yes. First name, last name and email — a short list, without notes or history attached.
• Consent status: no. Practice Better holds no marketing consent field. Everyone arrives with none recorded.
• History: partly. Session history exports as its own report. Full client records (files, notes, documents) export one client at a time.

Export from Practice Better

Your client list:

1. Go to My Clients.
2. Click the + button (bottom right), then Export contact information, then Download.

You get first name, last name and email — nothing else.

Your session history:

1. Go to Reports > Session History.
2. Click Download, and choose CSV or Excel.

Full records, if you want them:

1. These export one client at a time: click the three dots next to a client, then Export data > Create Archive.
2. For every client at once, you'll need to ask Practice Better support directly — there's no bulk option in the app.

Watch for: archives are deleted 48 hours after you create them, so download promptly. There's no consent field anywhere in Practice Better.

Import to Holder

• Upload the client list CSV as it downloaded. Date and phone formats are normalised on import
• Read the column mapping check before anything is written
• Duplicates are flagged side by side with a merge view
• The per-client archives aren't CSVs and don't go through this route. Send them to us instead

What Holder rebuilds rather than imports

• Booking pages, session types, availability, packs
• Under an hour, by hand

What doesn't come with you

• Marketing consent. Decide who you have permission to email and set it deliberately
• Booking pages, forms, programs and protocols. No export exists for these. Note down anything you want to rebuild before you close the account
• Billing data. Invoices and payments stay with Practice Better. Export what you need for your own records
• Zoom. No integration transfers. In Holder you paste your own link on a session, one session at a time

The last step

• Repoint the booking link: website, bio, email signature, anywhere it appears
• Take a test booking as a client and check the confirmation lands
• Keep the Practice Better export archived somewhere secure and encrypted, given the health information involved

Deep history imports are a paid one-off service, not part of a trial or a plan. If you want one, send us your export before you start a trial: we'll quote you for it, and tell you honestly what will and won't come with you either way.
