Switching from Meetup to Holder

Meetup is built to keep your members inside Meetup, not to hand you their email addresses, so for most organisers there is nothing real to export — the honest move is to invite people across rather than try to import them.

What comes with you

• People: mostly no. Standard organiser tools give you names only, not email addresses. Meetup Pro shows emails only for members who specifically agreed to share theirs.
• Consent: not applicable. There's nothing to import consent for.
• History: names only, from Attendee details.

Export from Meetup

1. Go to Organizer tools > Manage Attendees > Attendee details
2. You get the names of people who RSVP'd to your events — no email addresses, unless you're on Meetup Pro and the specific member agreed to share theirs

For most organisers this isn't enough to build a real client list. Rather than trying to piece one together, post your Holder booking link to the group instead — as an event, a post, or in your group description — and let members come to you directly. Anyone who books becomes a proper client record in Holder, with real consent, from day one.

Import to Holder

• If you do have a Meetup Pro export with email addresses, upload it as you would any other CSV, read the column mapping check, and treat it exactly as you would treat any list with no consent recorded — decide who you actually have permission to email before you send anything
• Otherwise, there's nothing to import. Build your list by inviting your Meetup group to book with you directly

What Holder rebuilds rather than imports

• Booking pages, session types, availability, packs
• Group event listings, rebuilt as sessions
• Under an hour, by hand

What doesn't come with you

• Your members' email addresses, for almost everyone. This is a Meetup limitation, not a Holder one
• Your group's discussion history and member network. These stay with Meetup
• Payments. These stay with your payment processor
• Zoom. No integration transfers. In Holder you paste your own link on a session, one session at a time

The last step

• Post your Holder booking link to your Meetup group
• Take a test booking as a client and check the confirmation lands
• Keep your Meetup group running for as long as it's still bringing people to you — there's no reason to close it on day one

Deep history imports are a paid one-off service, not part of a trial or a plan. If you want one, send us your export before you start a trial: we'll quote you for it, and tell you honestly what will and won't come with you either way.
