Brevo's export is thorough, and it hides the important part. Subscription status is not included by default — you have to open a collapsed section in the export dialogue and tick it. Miss that and you export your whole list with no record of who opted out.
What comes with you
- Contacts: yes. Email addresses, phone numbers, and every standard and custom attribute you select.
- Consent status: yes, if you tick the box. Unsubscribed and blocklisted stay that way. Holder keeps a permanent suppression list and checks it at every send.
- History: no. Opens, clicks and campaign statistics stay in Brevo.
Export from Brevo
- Go to CRM > Contacts
- To export everyone, make sure no list or segment is loaded and no filters are applied
- Tick the checkbox in the CONTACT column, then choose Select all contacts
- Click More actions > Export
- Under Attributes, select the standard and custom attributes you want. Email, last changed and creation date are already selected
- Now expand the Subscriptions section and select the subscription status. This is the step that matters, and it is collapsed by default
- Choose the comma as your CSV field separator, not the semicolon
- Click Start export, then download it from the bell icon next to your account name. The account owner also gets it by email
If you want your blocklisted contacts clearly separated rather than mixed in with a status column, run a second export with a filter for them. It isn't necessary, but it makes the file easier to read if anyone ever asks you to account for it.
Import to Holder
- Upload the file as it downloaded. Date and phone formats are normalised on import
- Read the column mapping check, and map the subscription status column deliberately. That is the one carrying consent
- Combining this with a booking list or another audience: the merge preview matches on email address and shows you the difference field by field before anything is written
- Duplicates are flagged side by side. If one record says blocklisted and the other says subscribed, the person stays suppressed
What Holder rebuilds rather than imports
- Sign-up forms and sequences
- Booking pages, session types, availability and packs, which Brevo never had
- Under an hour for a working sign-up form and a welcome sequence
What doesn't come with you
- Automations. No export exists. Note down the triggers and delays before you close the account
- Templates and landing pages. These stay with Brevo
- Engagement data. No opens, no clicks
- SMS and WhatsApp consent. These are separate channels in Brevo with their own blocklists. Export them separately and send them to us rather than assuming they travel with the email consent
- Transactional email. If you send transactional mail through Brevo's API or SMTP, that is a separate piece of plumbing and needs its own plan before you switch anything off
The last step
- Repoint every sign-up form and list link: website footer, link in bio, anything embedded elsewhere
- Send a test to yourself
- Take one address you know unsubscribed in Brevo and confirm Holder is suppressing it. Do this before your first real send
Deep history imports are a paid one-off service, not part of a trial or a plan. If you want one, send us your export before you start a trial: we'll quote you for it, and tell you honestly what will and won't come with you either way.
